Pilanesberg National Park 1 Night Tour
Departing early morning from your accommodation, we make our way to the Sterkfontein caves. Sterkfontein is one of the world’s most famous productive and important anthropological sites and world heritage site. It is the place where Dr Robert Broom found the very first adult ape-man in 1936 where, in 1947 a well preserved skull of a female Plesianthropus uncovered. The newspapers named it “Mrs. Ples”, and it is the most complete skull of Australopithecus Africans yet found. She is about 2.7 million years old.When we leave the caves, and make your way to Hartebeespoort Dam, where we visit a traditional craft market. This market is one of the biggest in South Africa. There are lots of Pubs and restaurants for you to have a meal before we make our into the North West Province. Only 30 minutes later we arrive at Pilanesberg National Park, the park exists within the transisition zone between the dry Kalahari and wetter Lowveld vegetation, commonly known as bushveld. As a result of the range of habitats and vegetation, there is a wide diversity of animal species from the “BIG FIVE” to 50 other species of large mammals, 354 species of birds and 65 species of reptile.We spend the night in chalet accommodation, listening to the nearby lions roar the night away. The following morning we go into the National Park for the day, to try and find a number of the 354 species of animals. The chances of seeing the White Rhino in this park is high, as well as Giraffe and Warthog.Departing the park before sunset, we travel back into the province of Gauteng.Optional extras: On day 2, ½ day Pilanesberg national Park, ½ day Sun City resort (Casino and Water Park). The museum is set out in a certain way, running you through the 48 year of struggle until freedom in 1994 as you exit the museum.
