Tour highlights: Maputo’s Night Life, Snorkeling in Bazaruto Archipelago, Dhow Trip, Snorkeling in Tofo with Whale Sharks.

Day 1: South Africa-Mozambique (Bilene)

Our tour starts off with a drive from the top of the plateau down to Nelspruit.  From here we go past the southern point of Kruger National Park to the border of Mozambique. Once crossing the border we make our way to the tropical beaches of Bilene. Our evening ends with a typical Portugese dinner.

Day 2: Bilene

After an early morning swim in the clear waters of the inland lake that stretches for 27 kms, breakfast is served where after you can relax on the beach at our campsite.  The rest of the day you can familiarize yourself with the local fisherman and maybe even go prawning with them.  This is an excellent time to immerse yourself in their culture and get to know how the locals live.  There is a local market where you can find an assortment of curious and a walk through of the town is a must.

Day 3: Morrungulo Campsite & lodge

Leaving the inland lakes of Bilene behind us, we make our way further North through the towns of Xai Xai, Maxixe through the coconut plantations to the tropical beaches of Morrungulo.  Our campsite is an old army base.  A late afternoon swim in the warm Indian Ocean is a must.

Days: 4, 5: Bazaruto Archipelago- Gabriels Lodge, Benguerra Island

The road continues north from here where the coconut trees take up most of the space in this once forgotten country.  In-land lakes also make up for the beauty as we make our way up to the Bazaruto Archipelago, where the islands give you a feeling, once only experienced by the explorers of the past. The days are spent in the fresh air on the beaches of Benguera and Bazaruto Islands.  Snorkeling off the Dhow (Arab Sailing yacht) on the two mile reef with its many species of fish, and, at times, the Green and Leather- Back Turtles and Manta Rays. Fresh seafood and catch of the day is one of the attractions of this area.

Day 6: Morrungulo Campsite & Lodge

After a tropical experience on the Islands we make our way back to Vilonculo by Dhow. We then head south back to Morrungulo Campsite, for a relaxing afternoon on the beach.

Days: 7, 8, 9, 10: Tofo Beach- Bamboozi Backpackers/ Barra-Reef Dive Lodge

We have a bit more time to sleep in this morning before we make our way back through the coconut trees once more to the markets of Inhambane and the beaches of Tofo, where Whale Sharks are plentiful.  We will arrive at our accommodation in the early afternoon.  The following 3 days are spent at your own will, relaxing at the bar, enjoying the beach or taking leisurely walks.  A Whale Shark snorkel dive is included in the tour which your guide will organize for you with one of the diving schools in the area.

Day 11: Maputo

After time spent on the pristine beaches, our journey takes us to Maputo, the capital city of Mozambique. Our last evening will be spent with the locals at the true Mozambique fish market, where we relax and reflect on our Mozambique experience.

Day 12: Pretoria/ Johannesburg

Today bids us a fond farewell back towards the border, and then back to Pretoria/ Johannesburg.
